Hello, my name is Priscila Garcia, and this is my first time taking SPC 1017. When you think about SPC 1017 the first thing that comes to your head is public speaking and presentations and being in front of the whole class while they listen.       Did you know that public speaking is the most common phobia? It is more terrifying than the fear of death or the fear of spiders! According to some estimates, up to 77 percent of the population suffers from some form of public speaking anxiety. It’s okay to be a bit intimidated by public speaking but be sure that you can achieve it.      In high school I did many presentations, and we would present in order of our last names, so I was never surprised that I was always the 6th person to present. After many, you start to lose the fear and get comfortable. Don’t get me wrong I still hated to present even to this day, but I have gotten better. The night before every presentation I write a sc...

My Experience Presenting Presenting in front of a class is at times one of the toughest challenges students face as they go through their schooling careers. Fortunately, I attend a wonderful introduction to communications class that helps me practice those skills before I enter the workforce, where I will most likely have to communicate my ideas effectively in front of a crowd of people that are important to something I want to do. Recently, I presented a slide show based on group leadership and problem-solving. I will be breaking down the moments of realization I made throughout my experience and how they have made me a better person in the end. Before I get into brass tax I want to mention my preconceived notions about presenting in front of a college class. I had not presented in college up until this point so this was a new experience for me. There was this sense of urgency I felt inside to be perfect and make sure not to slip up and put forth the best work I have ever done but...

Hi, Jose from Group three here. My experience with the presentation went really well and easier than I thought. I missed the first two classes, so I had to try a little harder to understand the presentation, but I had a very engaging and responsible group to help me throughout. Since I missed the first two classes I really didn’t have a choice to pick the words I wanted but the words I did get were still a pretty good set of words. Once I finally bought the book, it was relatively easy to find out the definitions of the words given to me. Thank God the professor put me in Group 3 since they had to present last, so I had more time to finish my PowerPoint slides. Once I saw Group 1 and Group 2 present, I felt like I had a better understanding of what I needed to have in my presentation since I was expecting to just read out the definition of the three words I have been assigned. I liked working with this group because they motivate me to be more hands on in class. I’ve realized how their...

Our First Presentation Hello! My name is Valery, I was the group leader for group three, and I'd like to write about some of the experiences we shared as a group. To start, we were a little confused when our professor explained how the presentations had to be done. Questions arose immediately, but luckily we have wonderful class leaders who answer our doubts and ask the questions that we, the rest of the students, are too shy to ask. Once the groups were formed and I had sent a Whatsapp link to those who corresponded to group three, we decided on how to distribute the information.  It wasn't a very easy task because some students, myself included, had still not purchased/rented the textbook. Fortunately, Nicole, one of our group members, had the book and came up with the idea of writing down all the words and having each member claim four that they liked. Everyone was on board with the idea, so we proceeded. It was difficult to reach all the members to choose their words, as so...
