Opening my eyes to a whole new world This was one of the more enjoyable projects especially because this one was one of the only projects that I personally got to learn about a new aspect of what is affecting our country.  People tend to hyper focus on the more controversial topics like the others that were assigned to the groups like gender inequality and climate change because there is a lot more interest and gray area involved in those topics. It is a lot sexier to speak about those types of things versus speaking about infrastructure. People, including my past self, do not have the slightest clue how important infrastructure is to the growth of any nation and to the lives of individuals rich or poor. This is something that everyone should pay a lot more attention to, especially since it can determine their future economically and their lifestyle. Since infrastructure is not something that is visible to everyone it is noticed by a lot of the economic lower class. The people that...

Hello blog reader, I will be sharing: my experience on how it was working on my group presentation with my group members for the second time, things I learned from other group presentations, my personal struggles and achievements I had. Our group  had to do a PowerPoint on Infrastructure. Basically having to inform, explain what infrastructure is and how it is important to our every day life. We also worked on a study guide on chapters 4, 11, 12, 13, and 14. And the brochure that would be in our PowerPoint presentation. My job in the group was to compare the Infrastructure of the United States with Germany and Switzerland. I also worked on the study guide by writing the definitions on half of chapter 12 and the beginning of chapter 13. Two of the struggles I had during this project were: technical difficulties and anxiety. During the first days of figuring out how we would do our project, my computers screen would turn green and purple from time to time not allowing me to talk...

Hello again, everyone! As you may remember from my last blog, my name is Valery, and I am the group leader for group three. We were assigned, once again, another presentation we had to complete as a group. Group one and two chose their topic quickly, so we were quite literally left with the topic of: Infrastructure .  Infrastructure is a great topic to discuss in a presentation, and I had a good time researching it. I felt like I entered a subject that I had never explored before, and had fun doing so. One of the most memorable things I learned is why the United State's public transport system is inferior to, for example, but not limited to, the ones in Europe. This is because the US values transportation as welfare, meaning that you're considered better off if you have your own means of transportation, such as a car or motorcycle. In the US, public transport is considered to be only for those who cannot afford their own means of transportation, thus the prices for the rides ...

Hello everyone, my name is Nicole Maza-Perez. I attend Miami Dade College and today I am going to talk about my experience and thoughts in the presentation we had to do for Professor Sinkoff in her speech class. As you guys may remember from my previous blog, we were assigned our topics from the chapters from our textbook. In our second group presentation we did a theme presentation. We had three different groups and each group had around eleven to twelve people. This time it was different, last project group one presented first and group three presented last but now group three presented first and group one presented last. This presentation Group three which was my assigned group discussed about Infrastructure , Group two discussed about  Gender Inequality,  and Group one discussed  Climate Change. We had multiple duties to do in this project. We had to do a powerpoint, a brochure, agenda, and a study guide. The powerpoint was full of useful information, pictures,...

Hello, my name is Priscila Garcia and this is my reflection on our second theme presentation. I’m part of group three and my group’s topic was infrastructure. The outcome of our presentation was that our audience clearly understood what infrastructure is; learn the troubles the United States faces against infrastructure compared to more developed countries; lastly, learn of some solutions that can help strengthen infrastructure.  My group first started by creating subtitles that we would be emphasizing. Like what is infrastructure and why is it important? The current state of the US infrastructure? How is the USA's infrastructure compared to other countries? What can we do to help strengthen the infrastructure? Then everyone got to pick which subtitle they would like to do. Every subtitle had two people presenting it.  I will give a brief statement of each subtitle. Let’s start with “What is infrastructure?” Infrastructure development is the process of constructing...

Hello blog reader, I will be sharing: my experience on how it was working on my group presentation with my group members, things I learned from other group presentations, my personal struggles and achievement I had. If I remember correctly our group easily came to an agreement on how we would complete our PowerPoint for our presentation for 1/20/2022. We completed our project by splitting up a number of words in the chapter which we would later on explain with our own words how it related to the chapter reading. I did not know which words to choose in the beginning from fear of getting into conflict with someone who probably wanted those words so I decided to wait and do whichever words were left to complete. The majority of our group ended up with 3 words and there was 4 words left. My group member Kevin also needed words to do his part in the presentation. So our group leader Valery suggested we split up those four words and that we did! My words were "intangible" and ...

Hello, my name is Nicole Maza-Perez. I attend Miami Dade College and today I am going to talk about my experience and thoughts in the presentation we had to do for Professor Sinkoff in her speech class. We had three different groups and each group had around eleven to twelve people. Group three had chapter three in professor Sinkoff's book discussed about Intercultural Communication , Group nine had chapter nine and they discussed about Communication In Groups, and Group ten which had chapter ten was my assigned group and we discussed about Group Leadership and Problem Solving .  Starting off with Group one which discussed about 'Intercultural Communication'. Group one did such a great job considering they only had two days to do the project. I really enjoyed the outcome of the project. I was pretty impressed with how much information they had on the slides and how organized the presentation was considering we had just met our classmates. Group one has so many topics that ...
