Two
of the struggles I had during this project were: technical difficulties and
anxiety. During the first days of figuring out how we would do our project, my
computers screen would turn green and purple from time to time not allowing me
to talk with my group members. I fixed this problem by buying a new computer. The
one I was using was around eight years old. Compared to our first presentation
I would say that when I presented this time, I did not feel the same amount of
anxiety. I believe anxiety is something that will always affect me but at least
I try my best to stay calm. The only struggle we had as a group was that we
lost a group member, but we all made it work out thankfully.
I learned many things from working on our group project as well as from group 1 and group 2. Group one’s topic had to do with climate change. They explained what climate change was and what caused it. Climate change is the change of temperature over a long period of time and climate change is caused by greenhouse gasses. Group one mentioned solutions to prevent climate change. One of them being to leave your car at home. I would like to think I am helping our planet by not taking the car when I do groceries shopping. I usually ride my bike to the supermarket since I live close. In the process of taking my bike I am exercising so I guess one act is doing 2 good things at once. Another solution was to reduce the amount you fly on airplanes. I only rode an airplane 2 times. The first time I rode one was to get to Cuba to meet my family members for the first time and the second time was to get back to Miami. I hope that someone finds a different energy source for airplanes making it harmless for our planet to get to places. I still find it hard to believe that some people think climate change is not real which is why it is important to educate ourselves and those around us. Group two’s topic had to do with gender inequality. I think I enjoyed this presentation the most because it made me aware of things that need to change. I am glad that the women from before we were here have broken the stereotype that we cannot do the same things men can do. I think there needs to be more awareness on male sexual harassment. I felt for Manuel Rosa when he was telling us his experience. I think people now are more accepting then back then but there are still some who are very much against it, but I think that as more time passes more people will be even more accepting. I think this topic is also something that needs to be kept talked about that way it educates those around us. And lastly one of the things I learned while doing my part on infrastructure is that Switzerland has most of their powerlines underground. I did not think that was possible yet alone that it existed until I worked on Switzerland’s infrastructure. I think it would be amazing if the United States someday invests in making our powerlines underground that way if there is a tornado or a tropical storm it prevents us from having power outages.
To
conclude my blog, I learned many things from these group presentations: gender
equality, climate change, and infrastructure. The presentations have made it
clear why these topics are important. Gender equality would make us get along
better with those around us and gives us new opportunities. Climate change
awareness is needed to find ways to protect the planet we live in. And infrastructure
is needed in order for us to live our everyday lives. Although the struggles I had,
and the groups struggle with member loss everything was completed thankfully. As
for goals I figured out how to put a background in a slide and now I hope to
use a video for our next presentation. Thank you for reading my blog until the
next one!

Very good!!
