Nicole

Hello, my name is Nicole Maza-Perez. I attend Miami Dade College and today I am going to talk about my experience and thoughts in the presentation we had to do for Professor Sinkoff in her speech class. We had three different groups and each group had around eleven to twelve people. Group three had chapter three in professor Sinkoff's book discussed about Intercultural Communication, Group nine had chapter nine and they discussed about Communication In Groups, and Group ten which had chapter ten was my assigned group and we discussed about Group Leadership and Problem Solving

Starting off with Group one which discussed about 'Intercultural Communication'. Group one did such a great job considering they only had two days to do the project. I really enjoyed the outcome of the project. I was pretty impressed with how much information they had on the slides and how organized the presentation was considering we had just met our classmates. Group one has so many topics that l was into and actually caught my eye. I was kind of hoping to get this group because l love the topics the teammates had to talk about. Group one had a little bit of difficulties when starting off but that is reasonable because it was the first time we had presented in the class. Grace Ortiz was first to present, and her topic was about Culture and Communication and l like how in depth she went with her topic and how she was not quick to finish. I was never really that educated with Intercultural Communication, but this group put in so much information and examples that now l do understand the base of it. I learned about Dominant Cultures, Co-Cultures, and Cultural Identity. This one was personally my favorite slide. They talked about race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, etc. these all are so interesting to talk about. I was so intrigued, it caught my eye to see  her views on these topics. She did such an amazing job because she went so in depth. I also learned about chronemics. I was not that educated on it but now after they talked about the topic, I am now more educated on it and have a good base of the meaning. Over all, l was amazed by group three they did such an amazing job. They covered these slides with so much information and educational videos.  I am excited to see what more group three will give us.

Next, Group nine which was about Communication In Groups. Group nine did such an amazing job. The group had a week to do this presentation and the slides were well put together and it had so many pictures and educational videos. Although, this group had a lot of difficulties. Some people did not show up or were not able to show up. So, it was not all that smooth but they still did amazing despite the fact that some people were not able to show up. Hailey Torres was the first to present and she covered the topics about group, group communication, and family. She did a good job on covering these topics. She only had pictures and videos which kind of impressed me because to me that shows that she remembered what she was going to say and also put in her thoughts and comments to her slides and did not just read what it said of her slides. Something I learned about this chapter was synergy. I never thought about that word and l like the way they explained the meaning and the example they used it helped me understand the full meaning to synergy. Someone put in a ten minute video which had caught me off guard because l was not expecting that long of a video. Although, the video they put was good and it was worth the while. They also talked about virtual group which was well explained and they used examples with the technology we use now for school which is zoom and blackboard. Maria Chourio which is a formal class leader she did the conclusion and she did awesome job with ending the presentation. She ended the presentation so smoothly.

Lastly, Group three which was my assigned group we discussed about Group Leadership and Problem Solving. In my personal opinion I think my group did a great job in presenting. Although, at first, we had some difficulties in the beginning deciding who is going to do what or how we are going to do the presentation. We ended up figuring it out the more we communicated with each other. I am happy with the teammates I got they were all so cooperative and we were hand in hand with each other. We were helping each other out with information to put and helping each other pick out a good introduction picture. Another problem we had was a lot of people did not have the book so that made it a little bit more difficult but thanks to technology we already had a whatsapp group chat and l helped some of my members. I was first to present and personally l think I could have done better. I feel like l presented too quickly and did not put as much of information. I could have put more information and went more in depth. Although, I am still happy for myself because I still did good. I see this as a learning lesson and now I know to put more information and go more in depth for the next presentation we have. I also get nervous for presentations so while I was presenting, I was kind of nervous. In the other hand, my teammates did quite the opposite. They put in so much information and went so in depth with the topics they had to talk about. I was so glad about the outcome to my group we all did a great job. I am excited to see what my else my group can teach me and see how strong of a bond we can grow.

In conclusion, I am happy and impressed with how all the presentations went because of the outcome; all the presentations were well put together and organized. I am excited to participate in her class and see what else Professor Sinkoff has planned for us. I am happy with the classmates I have been given because they are all very cooperative and very sweet. I hope we all can grow a strong bond and work best as teammates.  I am hoping that through out this class that groups get switched around so that there can be a different variety of teammates and it will give us a chance to get to meet some of our classmates that we have not formally met. Thank you for reading my blog, I hope you enjoyed!
